Claims Executive / Senior Claims Executive

The Swedish Club is a leading marine mutual insurer with headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, and with offices in Hong Kong, London, Oslo, Athens, Singapore and Tokyo. The Swedish Club was established in 1872, and we currently employ about 125 people. We offer P&I, FD&D, Marine & Energy, and various ancillary covers for selected clients. The Club is a member of the International Group of P&I Clubs.

We currently have an opening for a claims executive in one of the finest teams, which you will be encouraged to develop and specialise in. Claims Executive / Senior Claims Executive with focus on People/Crew Claims, P&I – Team Sweden

Work Description

We are looking to recruit a new colleague who is eager to grow in the area of people claims. In this role, you will be responsible for handling P&I claims and providing advice to our members in various insurance-related matters. The work tasks include:

  • Registration, investigation, and evaluation of P&I claims, with a focus on people claims
  • Reviewing incoming reports by surveyors, consultants and lawyers
  • Claims negotiations with opponents and third parties
  • Assisting members with advice in insurance-related matters and the scope of coverage
  • Assisting in reporting to Reinsurers/Board of Directors
  • Participating in and organizing seminars
  • Travelling to attend investigations and legal proceedings or to assist and meet with members
  • Representing the Club’s interest in various forums

Qualifications
We are looking to recruit a candidate with at least three years of experience in marine claims handling and/or crew management. Experience from a P&I Club would be considered highly relevant. People claims handling experience is a must.

The working language is English. As the position involves daily contact with clients, brokers and colleagues in several countries, it is vital that you can express yourself accurately in English, both verbally and in writing, and have excellent communication skills. Travelling to visit members and brokers or travelling in connection with claims/casualties can be expected.
