Our Ship Management is growing with new customers and to strengthen our DPA function we are now searching for a Designated Person Ashore (DPA) for permanent employment. The position is full-time and is tied to the Stockholm office and requires, at times, travel to vessels and clients. We offer you the opportunity to work remotely to some extent. Tied to the position is also the Company Security Officer (CSO) function.
You will work closely with your Deputy function stationed in our Singapore office and with the company’s Safety Manager and with the internal audit team. As the company’s formal link to the vessels in the fleet you will have close interaction with the senior management teams onboard and with authorities.
Within your domain represent the company in misc industry forums. To cross interact in-between disciplines is encouraged.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Organize our Emergency Response setup.
- Have close communication with our clients’ DPA and CSO equivalents, when needed.
- Be central in the communication, implementation, review and continuous development of the safety and security management parts within our Business Management System
- Incident investigation and reporting
- Carry out internal audits and security inspections
- Plan, execute and report emergency response training and training addressing safety and security aspects.
- Advising the fleet on the security and threat situation, when needed.
- Stay abreast of rules, regulations, and development within your area of responsibility.
- You will also be expected to participate in, or support internal projects, within your field of expertise.
Who are you?
We are looking for a person holding a Master’s/Officer’s licensee and/or university degree in Merchant Marine Academy or similar and have several years of experience as Chief Officer or higher – preferably on Car Carriers, RoRo vessels or similar. Alternatively, RoPax and/or PAX experience, especially combined with safety and quality work onboard and ashore, is also a background of interest. CSO and internal audit certification is a merit.
This is a cross-discipline function so other related backgrounds may also be of interest.
To succeed in this role, you will need to have effective communication skills and to be able to work independently as well as part of a team, interacting with team members both in Sweden and in Singapore, as well as with the vessels in the worldwide operating fleet.
Our Group language is English which means that you should speak and write English fluently, including technical terms. High level of proficiency in Swedish is also a merit.
We also require a good understanding and knowledge of Microsoft365.
