Naval Architect

SSPA Sweden AB is an independent consulting company that provides services in the areas of Ship Design and Maritime Operations. Our knowledge within the areas of hydrodynamics, systems engineering, environment, risk and safety, and simulation modelling forms the basis for our ship design and simulator development work. To further develop SSPA’s expertise, about 20 per cent of our resources are engaged in research activities. Our clients include manufacturers, shipyards, ship owners, ports, and maritime authorities around the world. SSPA was founded in 1940 and has about 100 employees. Our annual turnover is approximately 115 million SEK.

Naval Architect seakeeping and manoeuvring

SSPA is currently seeking new employee for our office and test facilities in Gothenburg.

You should have the aptitude and interest to combine physical model testing with simulations of seakeeping and manoeuvring phenomena to develop optimal ship designs from an economic, environmental and safety perspective.

You will be part of an experienced and very knowledgeable group that currently provides ship design services to customers all over the world.

Many assignments are carried out in close cooperation with the client, and there is often a tight timeline and firm deadlines. You must have a strong focus on customer service, and should be able to see how your knowledge and work assignments can fit within a larger context. You are also expected to have a large interest in the commercial aspects of the work and a well-developed business sense is desirable.

Some travel may be required.

Project management/project coordination is an important part of our work where the customer value is defined and marketed and often leads to new projects and further technical cooperation with the customer.

The position is permanent.

Qualifications:

As a minimum, you should have a master’s degree in engineering, preferably with a naval architecture specialisation. Experience within the manoeuvring and seakeeping area is desirable as well as simulation/programming skills.
